Down Tor Stone Circle Down Tor Stone Circle is a stone circle near Down Tor, Dartmoor. Also called Hingston Hill Cairn. Foggintor Quarry is not far to the northwest, where the stones could have been quarried, along with Down Tor, which is currently a national park. Crazywell Cross is to the north and Drizzlecombe to the south. Coordinates 50.506060,-3.994103 Description Down Tor Stone Circle consists of a long stone row with a circle of stones at the end towards the southwest. This can be considered similar to Drizzlecombe in shape and construction, and is 2 kilometers away. Measurements This tor and circle are angled at 22° towards the southwest, with the row at a length of 755 feet or 230 metres. Analysis It is possible that Down Tor Stone Circle is similar to Drizzlecombe, which was shown to be possibly connected with the golden ratio and π or 9πφ together. The circle is 40 meters wide. If using the 22° on the circle towards the northwest, then all stones pair...
Nympsfield Long Barrow
Nympsfield Long Barrow is considered a burial site located northwest of the village of Nympsfield in Gloucestershire.
It is thought to date to 2800 BC and is a scheduled monument.
Some people consider it connected to Stoney Littleton Long Barrow .
Coordinates
51.710252,-2.299706
Description
The tomb is angled at 17° northeast. It measures 5 metres wide by 10 metres long. Two large stones, which could be roof supports, occupy the center, with possibly three rooms off a main corridor.
Analysis
If the burial site was from 2800 BC, it would be angled 7.417° more. This would give it an angle of 24.41° northeast. 7.41675 + 17 = 24.41675.
There are other roofless tombs shown to align with celestial objects.
If considered connected to Stoney Littleton Long Barrow and using the angle of tilt, the difference is about 1°.
24.41675 - 23.435 = 0.98175
Moon
Comparing it to the Moon, like Stoney Littleton Long Barrow, the difference in location and the Moon's tilt produces the following:
51.710252° − 23.435° = 28.275252°
The Moon's visual size, as seen from Earth, is 0.5°.
28.275252 − 28.58 = -0.304748
This number represents centimeters in a metre.
51.710252 − 24.41675 = 27.293502
This is very near a sidereal month, which is 27.321661 days (decimal).
An angle of 7.388591° would give a sidereal month duration. The year would be 2782 BC.
7.388591 ÷ 1.55 = 4.7668
4.7668 × 1000 = 4766.8
4766.8 − 1985 = 2781.8
Conclusion
It is possible Nympsfield Long Barrow connects to Stoney Littleton Long Barrow, which was shown to date to 6402 BC. Using the tilt, Moon and coordinates, it shows that the burial site could date to 2782 BC.
People who constructed the second burial site at Nympsfield used numbers from Stoney Littleton long barrow, although Nympsfield connects to a foot and sidereal month.
It is possible that this type of connection directly relates to the numbers obtained. In this build, it would suggest feet per meter and month. This could suggest that it was built more recently but retains a connection to older builds. It is also not aligned at maximum tilt; its current angle.
Due to its uniqueness, and as part of the land clearing, it may be part of an old house on the site dating to the 1700s. Further along is Woodchester Mansion, built after 1858, and the two might be connected. This suggests it was built in the 1700s and 1800s as part of landscaping.
