Gorsedd Circle The Gorsedd Circle is a stone circle in Fishguard, Wales. The Gorsedd Stones are a Welsh tradition of modern stone circles constructed for the National Eisteddfod of Wales. These stone circles can be found at several locations, including Aberdare Park and Anglesey. They are typically 20 metres wide and have 12 stones on the circumference with a level stone in the circle. A further stone is usually set back from the circumference; the central stone is called the Logan Stone. Coordinates 51.996431,-4.975040 Stone Circle Gorsedd Circle is a typical stone circle but has 13 stones on the circumference with one inset. It was erected in 1936 and has the names of the parishes inscribed on each stone. Ceremony During the opening ceremony, the Archdruid stands on the Logan Stone facing the Stone of the Covenant. Two stones mark the entrance and are called the Portal Stones. These mar k the midsummer and midwinter sunrises. Gorsedd Circle (no edit) Archeology7...
Coetan Arthur
Coetan Arthur, also known as Arthur's Quoit, is a dolmen in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
It is different from the Carreg Coetan Arthur monument near Newport and is the remains of a Neolithic burial chamber (also known as a quoit).Angles/coordinates
If the angle north equals 15° (1hr), then the stone's inclination angle of 25° could equal plus 10hrs or (25-15).
25° stone
At 15° northeast
Location 51.904°
Altitude 42m
Coordinates
51.904527,-5.307970
Meaning
From other monuments, a dolmen with support stones represented the minimum and maximum tilt by its alignment angle and latitude.
Assuming this to be correct then it gives a year of 3880 bc.
A date can also be derived from the use of its altitude and coordinates, which are 42 and 51.
(This is going straight to a date without the difference being 20° or 20° plus tilt).
From these two angles and altitude and subtracting from 5510 gives a date of 1259 bc.
5510-4251=1259
(This 42 and 51 can equal a number of different years).
So if using the year as 1259 bc, then the following could be correct.
A total solar eclipse occurred in 1259 bc on 11th Feb with max at 18.27pm for a duration of 4mins 11secs.
(Coordinates max 15.423666,-96.197288)
A partial lunar eclipse occurred in 1259 bc on 26th February with max at 02:15 for a duration of 2 hours and 10 minutes for the partial eclipse and 5hrs 18mins Penumbral eclipse.
(Coordinates max 10.931134,-33.612987)
For the total solar eclipse, the numbers can be derived as:
11th Feb as 42 days.
(42nd day of year, altitude at location)
18.27pm as 1122 minutes or 280.5°.
4 mins 11secs as 251s or 0.8x5°.
For the Partial Lunar eclipse, the numbers can be derived as:
26th February as 57th day of year
(Altitude plus tilt of stone 42+15=57)
02:15 as 135 mins or 33.75°.
2hrs 10mins as 2×10
(Twice the angle difference)
Solar
Altitude = day
Altitude/location % of day = max
(2×location)% of longitude = duration
Stone angle = location
Lunar
Stone angle plus altitude = day
2×stone angle = max
Difference in angles x2 = duration
Difference in angles = location latitude
Alternative possibility
Alternative possibility
In some other stones, the stones represented a location by shape or idea. This occurred between 2500-3500bc but also other dates.
If this is correct, then its shape could be an event. Some possibilities are meteorite, earthquake, or iceberg.
Conclusion
Assuming Coetan Arthur was standing on supports then there isn't much remaining, but assuming Coetan Arthur was built as it appears today, then it might be possible to define something using only a few numbers.
From these few numbers and only using them, then a date could be established. A possible date connects to other builds about that time, like the Castlerigg Stone Circle (they also used the number 5510 that isn't used anymore). These builds represented lunar or solar eclipses and with just the use of the numbers 15, 25, 51.904 and 42, they could have shown that it is possible to derive the lunar and solar eclipses for a year.
The two max locations are at 10° and 15° which is the angle at max and the difference from the angle of stone from max. These latitude locations are used instead of the time associated with maximum.
For them to use 42m for altitude they must had visited Gavrinis, there they would have interrupted sea level high at 1985 ad as 11m and where they got the number 5510 bc from (11m from entrance).
(This measurement is correct and has been used for altitude in many times).
If 15×42=630 then 25×51.904=1297.6, for the 1297.6 to equal 1259, then 25 must be multipled by 50.36, giving a difference of 1.544.
25×50.36=1259
51.904-50.36=1.544
It is possible for this number to be 1.542 with increased accuracy or a location at sea from one of the other numbers suggesting altitude is used.
The alternative possibility suggests an event.
If the 15×42=630 is considered, then it is an error like at Boscawen-Ûn, where 604 and 2903bc dates are suggested, the 630 equivalent to 604. If this is the situation, then it suggests a build date of 2903bc or between 2903 and 2929bc.
